The voice actor behind the caped crusader in the Arkham video game series has died at 66.
Kevin Conroy, who also played Batman in the 1990s animated series, officially passed from the world on November 10 following “a short battle with cancer”, but the passing was only confirmed within the last 24 hours by Warner Brothers Discovery.
Per Poison Ivy actor Diane Pershing via Facebook:
“He’s been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world.”
Joker voice actor Mark Hamill also weighed in on Conway’s passing:
“He was one of my favourite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”
The role of Batman (aka Bruce Wayne) was not the only role that Conroy had been playing in the Batman canon: he was recently tapped to play Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Batman: Caped Crusader series, though it is not yet known if that role will be recast given its tragic end.
