Nintendo, the biggest handheld console manufacturer company has unlocked a new fear. Emulators on other handhelds like the Steam deck and Chinese handheld windows consoles.
Nintendo has been the number one handheld game company for years now and as the emulator scene is getting bigger and bigger and producing better emulators way faster than before, they have started to ramp up the hammer-smacking on these types of software.
They have already taken it thus far that they are submitting DMCA (“Digital Millennium Copyright Act”) claims.
SteamGridDB which has images of many emulator games, has now gotten requests from Nintendo that images from the Switch games Pokemon Scarlet, Pokemon Violet, Splatoon 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild be removed. Failing to comply will mean the company will take further legal action.
In recent years, the emulation of Nintendo games, even the more modern ones, has become a much bigger thing. The fact that there are powerful handhelds with Windows does not make the situation better for them, now they are trying to stop all information about what is possible.
